Meow Island

Meow Island is an island situated between Chicken Island and the eastern coast of the Nostrian mainland. Despite being geographically close to Chicken Island and Greenhill, the island is only recently inhabited due to previous mass usage of Nether Highways and elytra that made it more economically viable to avoid travelling through it.

History

Meow Island was first settled by Mayor Meower, who is the namesake of the island, and construction began on herlarge manor house. The building has been unfinished since then, though slow progress has been made to it over time.

After Mayor Meower mysteriously disappeared, the island was largely untouched. Seni, the curator of the Northern Realm, created a road connecting the Northern Realm to Greenhill which ran along the western riverbank of Meow Island. Other than that road Meow Island would not see any new infrastructure for a long time

The first permanent settlement in Meow Island was the establishment of Feathershire, which is the current castlegrounds and home of the Queen of Chicken Island. Shortly after that, Kokili of Ballymena started construction of Ballymena.

After the construction of Ballymena, Kokili constructed various roads connecting Ballymena to Cassony, the Northern Realm, and Greenhill. After these roads were constructed Kisinja connected Feathershire to Ballymena. These roads which Kokili is largely responsible for give Meow Island a very unique rural feel to the area. There is a generally accepted rule in the island that if you are to build there, destroy as few trees a possible to preserve the natural reclusive beauty of the island.

Culture

The inhabitants of Meow Island are incredibly diverse. they comprise of Chicken Island subjects as well as citizens of the Celtic Commonwealth. Even though many Meow Island inhabitants do not share a nationality with eachother, many inhabitants have a shared identity of being an inhabitant of the island.

Geography

A road sign in Meow Island

The island is made up of three biomes. The majority of the island is made up of a birch forest while the westmost tip of the island is made up of spruce and the south west area is made up of an oak forest. the spot where these biomes separate seems to be Mount Meow. The westernmost part of the island are dotted with tower built by Seni with a tower sitting on top of Mount Meow.

Almost every intersection on the island has signs hanging off of upright logs. These signs have become an iconic symbol of Meow Island.
